Sinclair Public Affairs is a North Carolina-based advisory firm specializing in crisis and issue management, campaign management, and public affairs strategy. We were founded by Chris Sinclair, a leading strategist who has been active in influencing policy and public affairs in North Carolina for over 20 years.

Sinclair PA is comprised of an experienced team of writers, designers, leaders and storytellers. Our staff specializes in the nuances of today’s modern communications landscape- allowing for strategic communication services that are specific to each client and their varying needs.

Chris Sinclair

Founder & CEO

Chris Sinclair has been actively involved in politics and public affairs in North Carolina for over 20 years. He has been recognized as a top influencer and strategist by multiple organizations, including Campaigns & Elections magazine who named him one of the Top 500 Influencers in American Politics (2013). He has founded multiple firms including Public Solutions, an award- winning public affairs firm, which later merged with Cornerstone Strategy & Communications to become Cornerstone Solutions.

Most recently, Chris was instrumental in the passage of Marsy's Law for All legislation in North Carolina that passed with 62% of the vote -- the highest of all 6 of the constitutional amendments up for consideration by voters in 2018. Recently, his strategies propelled the statewide Connect NC bond to victory, winning 99 of 100 counties, and totaling nearly $2 billion. He also implemented campaigns for two Wake County education bonds that both passed by over 65% of the vote and totaled nearly $900 million.

His work has proven powerful enough to sway the majority of citizens to vote for a candidate outside their own political party. He was instrumental in helping North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory achieve his historic 2012 election victory in a state where no candidate of his party had won that office in over 30 years. He also helped run one of the most successful business and real estate coalitions in the country—concentrating on issues advocacy, strategic communications, and grassroots mobilization.

Chris has served on numerous boards and commissions including a recent appointment to the North Carolina Victims’ Assistance Network Board of Directors. He also serves as the chair of the Central Wake High Charter School Board of Directors and has served on the Wake County Planning Board. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and was a former planner for the Tennessee Valley Authority and City of Greenville, South Carolina. Chris obtained his master’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor’s degree from Mars Hill University.

Anna Roberts

Sr. Vice President

Anna Roberts joins Sinclair Public Affairs team after partnering with the group to work for key clients in recent years.  With 20 years of experience in the government relations and communications industries, Anna's broad experience includes serving as communications director and spokesperson for the NC House and for the statewide Marsy’s Law victims’ rights amendment campaign that earned 62 percent of the vote in November, 2018. She has also recently worked on award winning communications campaigns, including helping lead a strategic communication plan in 2020 for Phantom Fireworks (the nation's largest firework distributor) during the July 4 season that resulted in national media coverage and increased sales.

Anna has been a senior level communications consultant for dozens of nonprofit and private sector clients, helping them develop communications plans, and increasingly incorporates key social media tools into their organization's communications. She has been involved with clients on various legislative and policy issues including: law enforcement policy and regulations, education policy that is subject to legislative oversight, university communications for several leading colleges, rural economic development for one of the largest North Carolina nonprofits, companies involved with healthcare and Medicaid reform, and on a variety of agriculture-related economic issues.

Prior to consulting as an independent contractor, she worked for the former PR firm CapStrat (now Ketchum), a leading public relations firm in the Southeast, and as a consultant for other public affairs firms advising clients on crisis communications, media relations, digital and social media plans, and media training for company spokespeople.

She currently serves on the board for the nonprofit advocacy organization NC Child and held public service roles as a team member of the governor’s 2012 Department of Transportation transition team, as a NC Senate appointee to the E-NC Authority overseeing the state’s broadband policy and as an alumni of the NC Institute of Political Leadership, Fall 2000. Anna is from northeastern North Carolina and graduated from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She lives in Raleigh with her husband and three children.

Kailey McSwain

Account Director

As Account Director at Sinclair PA, Kailey specializes in social media management, crisis management, media relations, and graphic design. Kailey joined the Sinclair team in April of 2020 as a communication and graphic design intern while simultaneously completing her degree in Public Relations from Appalachian State University. Upon graduation, Kailey transitioned to full-time with the company.

At Sinclair, Kailey facilitates social media management for Sinclair’s political candidate clients. During the 2020 General Election season, this included an array of copywriting, graphic design, and platform management. Throughout the unique election season, Kailey successfully executed multiple virtual fundraisers for Sinclair’s candidate clients- each event raising double the initial goal.

Kailey also assisted the team in the development of their first Crisis Management Plan for a high-profile client. Kailey studied Crisis Communications in college and brings a level of unique interest and expertise to the firm’s clients.

In her free time, Kailey is an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast. On the weekends, you can often find her off the grid exploring the North Carolina mountains- her preferred destinations being Boone and the Linville Gorge. Although Raleigh isn’t in the mountains, Kailey is excited to pursue her career with Sinclair PA and start a new chapter in the City of Oaks!

Kaitlin Coogan

Public Relations Account Coordinator

Kaitlin joined the Sinclair Public Affairs team as a digital media intern after graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media, where she specialized in public relations and advertising. At the start of 2022, she transitioned into a full-time account coordinator position.

As the public relations account coordinator, Kaitlin works with both the digital team and the account services team. She supports the team with copywriting, graphic design, media relations efforts and PR services for clients. Kaitlin appreciated getting to work with such a wide range of clients as an intern and is looking forward to helping future clients shape their stories.

In her free time, Kaitlin enjoys reading, traveling and exploring local coffee shops. She returns to the beach as often as possible but is enjoying being so close to downtown Raleigh. Kaitlin is excited to explore her new home and grow with the Sinclair team!

Sarah Wallace

Public Affairs Account Executive

Sarah joined the Sinclair Public Affairs team as a public affairs intern during her time at Meredith College, and quickly transitioned into a part-time consulting role. After her graduation, Sarah joined the Sinclair team in a full-time capacity and took on her current role as Sinclair's first Public Affairs Account Executive.

Sarah works with a range of clients, vendors and team members, working with both functions
of the company: Social/Digital Media as well as Account Services. At Sinclair, Sarah works
within a fast-paced and complex communications environment for a range of political, policy
and private sector clients.

Throughout both primary and general election seasons, Sarah helps facilitate project
management, key-messaging development and campaign strategy. Sarah also works with a
complex range of clients within the private sector, assists the senior executive team in public
affairs strategy and application within unique communities across North Carolina and the
nation.

In her free time, you can find Sarah playing golf, walking on one of Raleigh's many greenways
or hanging out at Raleigh's great restaurants.
