Although Sinclair Public Affairs is in part a crisis management firm, where we are trained to expect the unexpected- like most people throughout the world, there was nothing that could have prepared us for all that 2020 had in store. This year was full of firsts, adjustments, and along the way, a lot of team building. While we look back on 2020, we wanted to take some time to highlight the best parts of this year- and yes, we did have some!
Our New Team Members
This year, two Sinclair interns joined our team full-time. Austin Jayes is our account director and Kailey McSwain is our newest account manager.
After interning during 2019 and the 2020 Primary Election, Austin Jayes joined our team full-time in March of 2020. Austin received his B.S. in Business Administration, with a concentration in finance from North Carolina State University, and previously worked in finance focused on multimillion-dollar projects in the homebuilding sector.
Kailey is a recent Appalachian State Graduate, who interned with Sinclair while completing her public relations program. She joined the Sinclair team full-time in May of 2020. Since then, Kailey has worked on social media, copywriting, editing, and crisis communications.
A Successful General Election Cycle
The Sinclair Public Affairs team would like to congratulate two of our legislative candidates, Senator-elect Lisa Stone Barnes of District 11, Representative John Szoka of District 45 as well as the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and partners who were the team behind the city-wide affordable housing bond – the Citizens Supporting Raleigh committee. These three Sinclair PA clients won on Nov. 3 and we are honored to have worked with each one.
An Array of Independent Expenditure Work
In addition to our campaign clients, we work with trade associations and other organizations to launch independent expenditure campaigns during sessions and election cycles. To learn more about independent expenditure work, check out our blog.
This year, we worked with the ________, the Credit Union National Association, the NC REALTORS (R), and the SC REALTORS (R). Each client had specific goals in mind for the primary and/or general election cycles. Through a variety of traditional and digital media efforts, we worked to ensure our clients voices were heard on the local and national stage.
An Award-Winning Firm
At Sinclair, we always pride ourselves on the quality of our work. This year, our work was recognized by the Marcom Awards, administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP).
Since its inception in 2004, MarCom has evolved into one of the largest, most-respected creative competitions in the world. Each year, approximately 6,000 print and digital entries are submitted from dozens of countries.
This year, our team earned one platinum, one silver, and two honorable mentions for our work. Read more about our award-winning work here.
That’s a wrap.
This year looked different for everyone, and while we had much to be thankful for, we are especially thankful for the health and safety of our team. We are lucky to work in a field where we can safely and efficiently work from home- thank you to all the essential workers who make this possible- we see you and appreciate your hard work and sacrifices.
Sinclair PA is looking forward to all that 2021 has to offer- continuing to serve our wonderful clients, partnering with new ones, and delivering the best work possible.
