Sinclair Public Affairs Hires VP of Business Development and Public Affairs
John Cleveland, federal and state policy and communications expert, joins the Sinclair PA team, expanding company expertise to key markets in South Carolina and throughout the region
RALEIGH, NC – Sinclair Public Affairs, a leading full-service communications firm, is pleased to welcome John Connor Cleveland as its new Vice President of Business Development and Public Affairs.
John is a policy and communications professional with nearly 15 years of experience in state and federal government, the nonprofit sector and private industry. He began his career in Washington, DC, as a staffer for U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and went on to work for South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster as Director of Policy and External Communications from 2017-2021, during which time he oversaw speechwriting, research and policy development.
In subsequent years, John served as Associate Director of Government Relations for Weedmaps, a publicly traded, West Coast-based tech company, where he was instrumental in the passage of critical legislation supporting the cannabis industry in California.

An experienced writer and licensed attorney, John attended the College of Charleston (2007) and Washington & Lee University School of Law (2014). In his new capacity, John will be focused on business development in his home state of South Carolina, working to connect prospective clients with Sinclair PA’s award-winning, results-driven public affairs team through direct engagement with SC-based companies, policymakers and other stakeholders.
